Goa - Maharashtra Toll Road
India’s Largest Toll Road Project – Achievement of Immense Magnitude
IVRCL is developing the country's largest-toll road contract to be executed on Goa-Maharashtra border. The 122.06-km road traversing the Maharashtra-Goa border on National Highway 17 has been taken up by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is estimated to cost Rs 3,100 crore. The highway project constitutes 6-laning for 32.96 km and 4-laning of 89.10 km and building of several major structures including a new and iconic six-laned cable stay bridge over river Zuari (similar to the Worli Sea Link bridge) for 900 m length. The road is now being primarily used by passengers including cars and commercial traffic like trucks. Commuters are depending more on the Konkan Railways. The project will be a catalyst for accelerated industrial growth while easing the current traffic conditions in this region.
Goa is renowned as a beach paradise popular with Indian and foreign tourists alike. It is blessed by fertile land and sparkling beaches and attracts the largest numbers of tourists throughout the year. The state also accounts for more than 30 percent of India’s iron-ore exports, according to export figures from 2008. Industry profits flow to the federal government and more than 100 mining companies in the state, many of which are small-scale privately owned operators. Greater and faster accessibility through IVRCL’s proposed Highway projects will give an already flourishing state added value and immense potential for business development.
