Kumarapalayam is famous for its textile industries and products and its educational institutions. There are many spinning mills, yarn dyeing processing units, manual dyeing units, weaving units, calendering mills, export oriented units, and related ancillary units in and around Kumarapalayam. The state government, in assistance with the central government, is setting up a high-tech park for shuttle-less looms in Komarapalayam called Cauvery High Tech Park. The completed Highway project of IVRCL will assist in further developing this first grade municipality into a thriving commercial centre.
The KTL project was awarded to IVRCL in October 2005 by NHAI on BOT basis, involving design, construction and development, financing and operation and maintenance of the 47kms highway stretch.. The Project Highway and roadside facilities includes repair, maintenance and improvement of the 27 km long stretch from Kumarapalayam and Chenganapally and widening the existing road to 4 lane divided carriageway. It also includes 39 km of 5.5m width service roads at Kumarapalayam, Lakshminagar, Chittodu, Nasiyanur, Perundurai, Vijaypuri, Palgaundam-palayam and Chengapally and 21km of bypass roads. The completed Highway project of IVRCL will assist in further developing this first grade municipality into a thriving commercial centre.
