The State Highway project with four lane road from Baramati-Phaltan- Lonand-Shirwal connecting the Pune-Bangalore highway is all set to play a catalytic role in the development of this fast growing region. The Highway Project was awarded to IVRCL for widening of 2 Lanes BT Road to 4 Lane road from Km 42/400 to 64/300 of Baramati Phaltan Road SH and Km 136/00 to 80/00 of Phaltan Lonand Shirwal Road SH through Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) Basis Projects. The Project Highway is to be widened to have a 77.9 kms long, 4-lane divided carriageway facility and 11.75 km length service roads.
The project will provide a shot in the arm for the key areas it covers, which comprise the surrounding areas of Pune with rich business potential. . As an upcoming suburb of Pune city, Shirwal is a prime location, sought after by multinational companies to expandtheir operations. Cummins Inc USA is setting up new plant in Phaltan on 300 Acres. With multinational like Cummins entering Phaltan, it opens up huge job opportunities for the region. The infrastructure in Phaltan is likely to improve greatly with the four lane road from Baramati- Phaltan- Lonand-Shirwal connecting the Pune- Bangalore highway. It will help industrialization, which is a dream come true for the people who live here .
Baramati a municipal council in Pune district is the political powerhouse of Maharashtra.
